Press Release: Good Food Box

Do you want to incorporate more veggies and fruits into your diet? Are you interested in cutting costs on your produce? Country Roads Community Health Centre offers a fantastic solution - the Good Food Box. This program allows anyone and everyone to take advantage of discounted bulk prices and receive fresh produce at wholesale rates once a month.

Since 2004, the Good Food Box program has been supplying residents in the North Leeds area with fresh fruits and vegetables. It's a non-profit initiative that operates on a community-based model, with dedicated volunteers, as well as the support of a Community Health Worker and a Registered Dietitian.

You can enroll in the program at any time, and there's no obligation to reorder. To participate, simply place your order and make the payment by the 7th of each month. E-transfer payments are preferred and should be sent to payments@crchc.on.ca. Remember to include your order, a phone number, and preferred pick-up location in the message box. Cash payments are also accepted. The available options include a $15 large box, a $10 small box, a $5 fruit bag, and a $5 veggie bag.

The contents of the boxes vary each month and depend on what's in season. We source our fresh produce in large quantities from a wholesale distributor and, whenever possible, local farmers. The savings from bulk purchasing are directly passed on to program participants. Additionally, every order comes with a copy of "The Good Food News," a newsletter packed with nutrition tips and recipes.

Pick-up day is always the third Tuesday of the month, and you can choose the most convenient location for you. We have pick-up spots in Athens, Delta, Elgin, Lombardy, Morton, Newboro, Portland, Seeley’s Bay, and Westport. Don't forget to bring a reusable bag or box to collect your order.
