Community Health and Wellbeing Week

During Community Health and Wellbeing Week Country Roads Community Health Centre is sharing all the ways that community health is essential and proven for people and our health system here in Rideau Lakes, Westport and Areas.

October 16, 2023 – Rideau Lakes, ON -- From October 16 to 22, Country Roads Community Health Centre (CRCHC) is focused on sharing all the ways that community health is essential and proven to improve health and wellbeing in the Rideau Lakes, Westport and Surrounding Areas. To recognize this week and provide resources and education on Community Health, CRCHC Community Health Workers will provide a light meal offering on Thursday October 19th, 2023 from 11am – 1:30pm at 4319 Cove Road, CRCHC in Portland.

“Community health is essential. So is wider support for the work it does,” says Marci Bruyere, Manager of Programs and Services at CRCHC “We’re calling on communities, leaders, and healthier community builders, advocates, and champions to join us. Ontario needs to strengthen its community health sector with investments like never before, so they can be ready now, and in the future to serve the health and wellbeing needs of people across the province. To achieve a vision of equitable health and well-being for everyone living in the Rideau Lakes, Westport and surrounding area we have to plan for the health workforce of the future, lead with health equity and improved health for all, and build on what data shows works in our health system – comprehensive, preventative, team-based care that’s integrated with health, social and other community programs and services.”

“Community health organizations like Country Roads Community Health Centre need to be resourced and funded to meet the increasing needs right here in our community. We need leaders and governments who demonstrate that they will invest in community health and trust the local voices and leadership needed to support better health care experiences and outcomes for everyone.”

Community Health and Wellbeing Week is coordinated by the Alliance for Healthier Communities of which Country Roads Community Health Centre is a member. The Alliance represents 109 Community Health Centres, Indigenous Interprofessional Primary Health Care Organizations, Community Family Health teams and Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinics across Ontario.
