Physical Medicine

This involves the assessment and non-surgical management (medications, advice regarding physical therapies and at times injections) of a variety of musculoskeletal and neurologic conditions including disorders of the neck and back, joints, muscles/soft tissues and nerves.   

Electrodiagnostic Medicine

This involves the assessment and testing (nerve conduction studies and at times needle EMG) of a variety of nerve conditions including carpal tunnel syndrome and other “pinched nerve” conditions and peripheral neuropathy such as that associated with diabetes and other medical conditions. 

Rehabilitation Medicine

This involves the assessment and rehabilitation management (medications, advice regarding physical therapies and at times injections) of a variety of musculoskeletal and neurologic conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputation and major fractures.  Dr. Ruggles’ main area of expertise in the area of Rehabilitation Medicine is Musculoskeletal/Orthopedic Rehab after major fractures and joint replacement, which he primarily practices at Providence Care Hospital in Kingston.
